Our kids are going to have hard times
How do we prepare them for them?
As parents, we want to lay a strong foundation for our children in the content that we teach and the lifestyles that we lead.
Jesus talked about laying a good foundation in His rock vs. sand story. The wise man built his house on the rock – solid and strong. The foolish man built his house on the sand.
When the storms came, the house built on the sand didn’t have a chance – it was smashed. The wise man’s house survived because of its strong solid foundations.
Our children are going to face storms of various kinds in life. We, as parents, can’t stop that. It is inevitable. But what we can do is build our families on a strong foundation – with God and His Word. His Word is like strong solid rock not shifting weak sand.
“But if you love your children let the simple Bible be everything in the training of their souls; and let all other books go down and take second place”
J C Ryle “The Duties of Parents” 1888
We can show our kids-
- how to discover the truth
- how to discern lies and evil and
- how to discover the path that God has for their lives.
Our Christian homes need to lay a strong biblical foundation in every subject so that when hard times come into our children’s lives they will be able to survive them without collapsing in an emotional or mental mess.
Start building now.
It is never too late.
Don’t give up.
